Written Thursday.

E-dubble finally released his anticipated mixtape: Written Thursday (strangely enough, released on a Tuesday) Since it’s release, the delicious beats and dope verses have been bumpin’ in my headphones 24/7. The mixtape takes you on a tour of the E-dubble achives. If you’re an avid listener you’ll recognize a lot of the tracks as a part of his Freestyle Friday series. Most of these tracks, if not all i suppose, were written on thursdays, hence the title mixtape’s title: “Written Thursday”. The first track that slapped me upside the head was “Paradise City”. This track highlights E dubble’s dynamic rapping ability. Rapping over strings is not something every rapper can do. E-dubble kills it. Fresh track, give it a listen.

The next song I really loved was “On the radio”. Sounds like Regina Spektor or someone in that veine in the sample.I think, more than anything, that this track shows E-dubble’s “Radiobility”. Ironic that the song is called “On the Radio” because you’ll deifnately be hearing it on your local radio station in due time. This shit is fresh people. Appreciate güd musik.

Followin’ “On the Radio” E-dubble does an ode to The Shins’ side-project, Broken Bells, by sampling their lesser known track but epically good nonetheless, “A Ghost Inside”. I’m running out of adjectives…The track, “Hard Bargain”, is… Dope. Dope summarizes it. It’s not a party track and it might be less catchy than some of the other tracks on the mixtape, but it’s damn good. Throw this track on and chill out. You’ll be bobbin’ to it in a matter of seconds.

This mixtape…. It’s amazing. I’m not gonna sit here and tell you about every song. I don’t want to write a 2,000 word essay. Honestly, I’m pleasantly suprised. I was worried that he wouldn’t be able to follow up from his “Freestyle Fridays”. That shit was damn good. This? This is amazing. The mixtape takes you on an adventure through the expanses of E-dubble’s universe. There are party tracks. They are chill tracks. There pop tracks and Hip-hop. It literally has something for everyone. Listen to it twice. First by itself. Then listen to another mixtape, maybe J.Cole’s…. To be honest, I don’t care what other mixtape you listen to, just put something on and listen to it from begginning to end. Then revisit “Written Thursday”. You’ll appreciate its dopeness. I haven’t heard something that covers such a wide variety of hip-hop better than this mixtape. They’re already 13 tracks on this mixtape that I’ve listened to 5 or more times. My final word…Listen to this now, on The Chicken Donut, before you’re listening to it with commercials on the radio.

Here’s the whole mixtape.
